Overview
Westcourt is hiring a Principal on its Research & Analytics team who will focus on both traditional and alternative public market investment funds. The Principal will be responsible for conducting research and analysis to identify, evaluate and recommend investments appropriate for Westcourt clients. While focused on funds investing in the public markets (e.g., ETFs, Hedge Funds, Structured Notes), the Principal will also participate in regular internal research meetings exploring exposure to all asset classes.
Responsibilities
The Principal will be responsible for the due diligence and on-going monitoring of investment funds, performing the following tasks:
- Conducting research and due diligence on traditional and alternative investment products, strategies, and funds;
- Managing the due diligence process and post-investment monitoring, and generating performance updates of traditional and alternative investment funds;
- Creating and maintaining detailed financial models;
- Preparing presentations and written due diligence reports on new public investment opportunities and funds;
- Responding to advisor queries about specific investment fund-related questions and providing analysis and fund analytics to support commentary;
- Monitoring market trends and the entire public investment fund universe to evaluate opportunities, risks and new liquid investment products;
- Developing relationships with investment fund management firms and with management teams in connection with due diligence and post-investment monitoring; and
- Performing other duties and ad-hoc projects as required.
Qualifications
Westcourt is looking for a team player who enjoys a high-performance culture and who is comfortable and flexible with constantly evolving priorities and who is open to new challenges. We are seeking a candidate with:
- A university degree specializing in accounting, business, economics, finance, or mathematics;
- Completion of, or substantial progress towards, the CFA and/or CAIA designation is an asset;
- Knowledge and passion for public investments, traditional and alternative investment funds, and financial markets;
- 7-10 years of related work experience with proven analytical, research and investment due diligence skills;
- Direct experience with macro market research and building ETF portfolios would be considered an asset;
- Strong financial modeling skills;
- Strong Excel and data manipulation skills;
- Python, VBA, or other object-oriented programming language fluency;
- High proficiency in Word and PowerPoint;
- Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills;
- Sound judgment, detail-oriented, and a demonstrated ability to understand and use financial theory and tools;
- Time management and organizational skills, an ability to meet tight deadlines and, work well under pressure; and
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work both independently and as part of a collegial, small-team environment.
